I am a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Roosevelt University.  As a clinical psychologist, my research, teaching, and clinical interests mainly focus on children’s well being and parent-child relationships.  Most of my work addresses families who encounter adversity because of their experiences or challenges in their communities.  I serve as Associate Chair of the Department and direct both the Undergraduate Programs in Psychology and the Initiative for Child and Family Studies.  I also am the Mansfield Professor of Social Justice. In this role, I help faculty members at Roosevelt University use transformational service learning in their classes.  This teaching approach allows students to make a difference in the community by connecting course material with opportunities outside of the classroom.
